Abubakar Jimoh is a seasoned development practitioner with over 15 years of experience in policy advocacy, youth mobilisation, strategic communications and high-level stakeholder engagement across Nigeria.
He has extensive experience in policy advocacy, youth mobilisation and high-level policy engagement across governance, Disaster Risk Management, Child and Family Health, Peace and Security sectors in Nigeria and West Africa. He has led and coordinated evidence-based advocacy initiatives influencing national and sub-national policies, particularly on accountability, transparency and inclusive governance.
Jimoh possesses traceable and results-oriented experience in development programme design, implementation and coordination, with a proven track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives across governance, Peace and Security, Anti-corruption, transparency and accountability in the Defence and Security sector, Counter-terrorism/Violent extremism, Conflict Prediction Mechanisms (Early Warning/Early Response), Migration, Disaster Risk Management, Population Management, Child and Family Health in Nigeria.
Jimoh has a strong track record of mobilising youth and Civil Society networks, empowering young people as agents of social change through structured platforms, campaigns and leadership development initiatives. He regularly engages high-level policymakers, legislators, security institutions and development partners, facilitating dialogue between Civil Society and decision-makers. His work bridges grassroots perspectives with national and international policy processes, strengthening civic participation and reform-oriented engagement.
He coordinates Nigerian youths across the six geo-political under the aegis of Youth Against Disaster Initiative (YADI) on outreach missions and public awareness on Disaster Risk Reduction as well capacity building to enhance youths’ resilience in disaster management and people-centred conflict management
Jimoh is a published contributor to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) PreventionWeb, where his articles advance public awareness and policy dialogue on disaster preparedness in Nigeria. He has also written extensively as a columnist on youth mobilisation and disaster management for national newspapers and served as editor for multiple Civil Society publications, including West African Report, Early Child Marriage Newsletter, Legislative Digest, and Tobacco Control Update.
He has participated as a panelist in national and international forums on youth engagement, governance, anti-corruption, defence and security sector reform, and human and women’s rights. His project experience includes collaborations with leading development partners such as the MacArthur Foundation, UNICEF, CIFF, DFID/FCDO, Oxfam, Heinrich Böll Stiftung, OSF-Africa, GIABA-ECOWAS, and Transparency International – Defence and Security (TI-DS).

Jimoh was elected Vice President and later President of the NYSC Editorial Community Development Service, Federal Capital Territory from 2011-2012.
